Leopard killed in-front of Police,SDM and DFO in Mandwadi

This photo is captured from Patrika
Another incident of man animal conflict and leopard goes to rest for ever. While news of the tragic attack on a leopard by the villagers is not a concern for the forest officials, hiding the facts have become a priority.

The incident is of Mandawadi of Rajpur sub-Division on Saturday. The barbaric act and the ruthlessness of the villagers was captured on the Camera being instigated by the SDM and other administration present at the time of the incident.
Using  this Pictures without permission will come under copyright action
The Version of Forest as expected--It dived into the well and died of shock. Shame on all of us who are becoming inhuman and insensitive.

DFO Sendwa was present at the time of incident confirmed by DFO Barwani who was briefed about the incident after 5 hours after the death of the Leopard.

The fact is it died of stone pelting in the presence of Police, SDM and DFO as captured on TV crew of a local channel. The incident is of Khandwa Circle.

The stories have been planted by the Forest department to save a face off gain. Will somebody question them on the Guidelines given by MOEF on Man Animal Leopard Conflict? Why were the guidelines not followed? Has the Madhya Pradesh wildlife wing ever considered briefing the lower staff and other on the Guidelines? Or Dr HS Pabla busy planning translocation instead of wildlife management and Conservation.

The Wildlife Wing of the MOEF has not parted with the details of Leopard since 2003 as not sufficed by Madhya Pradesh or the head office of the Wildlife Madhya Pradesh has data /Figures of casualties, deaths, births of Leopards as confirmed by them in writing to us.

We are anguished and sad.

Who is accountable for this tragedy? Why are leopards wandering from their habitat? A transparent inquiry with all facts to be shared with us is insisted along with the postmortem reports from the Chief Wildlife Warden of Madhya Pradesh. Suspending the lower staff will not suffice or close the case. The HOD should be made accountable.
In the last 5 years more than 125 Leopards have died, 85 through poachers, 11 man animal conflict 29 died due to natural deaths or illness.
In 2004 the population was 1075 at present  in 2011 its estimated as 1073

A prime minister-in-waiting dances while on Satyagraha

Don't make a mockery of SATYAGRAH!

Baba Ramdev‘s fast was barbarically, brutally and abruptly ended on June 5th 2011 and the Yogi was shifted to Dehradun in secrecy while   the silent protestors were not spared by the police high handedness.  A five thousand strong police force was used to serve an externment order on Baba Ramdev. The decision shows the Congress party was in two minds in dealing with the austere baba..The descision show the Congress Party was of two minds in dealing with the austere

A month ago the same Indian media went into a loud and vulgar rapture as Anna Hazare went on his four-day fast against corruption at Jantar Mantar. We all saw the hyperventilating television anchors with their idioms and sensibilities forgetting how to evaluate the worth of a protest and captured the mass hysteria, ignoring corruption the most visible rationale, lending to an epidemic of cynicism and anger in them.

Satyagraha evokes in us the memories of Mahatma Gandhi   who described in a letter in September 1935 to P.K. Rao, Servants of India Society as  “I have also called it love-force or soul-force. In the application of satyagraha, I discovered in the earliest stages that pursuit of truth did not admit of violence being inflicted on one’s opponent but that he must be weaned from error by patience and compassion. For what appears to be truth to the one may appear to be error to the other. And patience means self-suffering. So the doctrine came to mean vindication of truth, not by infliction of suffering on the opponent, but on oneself.”

Isn't today's satyagraha "individualistic protests" and "manufactured and well-crafted protests? What we are seeing is short-lived and naive playing with the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party and with the innocent lives, hobnobbing with a few naïve liberals. Hunger for publicity at any cost is the hallmark, and moral corruption is manifest. How conveniently are protests being used by opportunists, opponents, blackmailers, politicians and activists! The media is being specially addressed as "bhailog". At the same time we are watching the amalgam of forces that drive a protest lacking core and issues of human survival. We witnessed the farce of negotiations recently.

How many know of Irom Sharmila, who has been on a fast for the last 10 years against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act? She is a living example. Injustices cannot be evaluated, modified, twisted, suppressed or brushed aside. The colour of the anti-corruption movement should be the tricolour..

Protest cannot be mocked upon; Satyagrah cannot be a tool in the hands of Fascists and for commercial use. “The Satyagrahi’s object is to convert, not to coerce, the wrong-doer.”Success is defined as cooperating with the opponent to meet a just end that the opponent is unwittingly obstructing. The opponent must be converted, at least as far as to stop obstructing the just end, for this cooperation to take place. Gandhi used an example to explain this: If I want to deprive you of your watch, I shall certainly have to fight for it; if I want to buy your watch, I shall have to pay for it; and if I want a gift, I shall have to plead for it; and, according to the means I employ, the watch is stolen property, my own property, or a donation

When Gandhi was criticized while offering Satyagraha as a method of combating oppression and genocide at Nazi persecution of the Jews in Germany he said “Friends have sent me two newspaper cuttings criticizing my appeal to the Jews. The two critics suggest that in presenting non-violence to the Jews as a remedy against the wrong done to them; I have suggested nothing new... What I have pleaded for is renunciation of violence of the heart and consequent active exercise of the force generated by the great renunciation.

Where are our sensibilities? Why is Rahul Gandhi who recently asked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati  why was Section 144 imposed in Bhatta-Parsaul if she had nothing to hide -- not questioning his own government? Such a premature use of prohibitory orders only exposes the weakness of the Congress government. What the central government did is certainly deplorable. Despite one disaster after another the corrupt dispensation survives because we have no credible opposition as an alternative

Deep Breathing Ramdev felt the RSS will help his political ambitions as planned instead of weakening the corrupt UPA. We watched RSS BJP gearing in april to tackle their crisis with the announcement of L.K. Advani while sharing the stage with Baba Ramdev in Delhi.  He endorsed Ramdev’s campaign: “Corruption has struck at the roots of faith in this country.

Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari announced a 24-hour satyagraha from 7 p.m. on  Sunday at Rajghat with top leaders like L.K. Advani, Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj.  The voters thought that the half dead and divided BJP is geared. It lacked seriousness. The general public saw leaders in a happy mood, chatting , singing, dancing, clapping, whistling, eating ice-creams, few sleeping and disappearing.

How do you justify Sushma Swaraj of the BJP, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister in waiting and a mass leader of BJP dancing along while in satyagraha at the Samadhi of Father of the Nation. This is not Kirtan or Bhajan at all to me. It was outrageous seeing the PM in waiting dancing at Raj Ghat. Isn’t she an elected representative? BJP certainly  didn’t show the  sense of occasion but send a message of in cash on public outrage.

When I tweeted she tweeted back from two different handles @MrsSushmaSwaraj: It is the tradition of our Party that we sing patriotic songs during our protests & shivirs to keep up workers'
@MrsSushmaSwaraj: Shocked that this is the sole clip picked up as representative visual of the Satyagraha & is being repeatedly telecast.
@SushmaSwarajBJP  :stepped in for a brief moment to boost the morale of our Party workers.

It’s time to think twice about our national parties as they stand exposed. It took UPA a year to act against Raja, 6 months to arrest Kalmadi and not even a day to arrest Baba. People of India rise and have courage to break shackles of a corrupt political system. The political class is also in a Catch-22 situation.

Ramdev fast a political conspiracy: Bukhari

By IANS,
New Delhi, June 4 (IANS) Criticising yoga guru Baba Ramdev's fast against corruption as a "political conspiracy", Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari Saturday said "communalism is a bigger issue than corruption".
"People who raise this issue of corruption are also not clean. The issue of communalism is much bigger in the country," Bukhari told IANS.
"Corruption is a problem, but the communalism is a bigger threat to the country," he added.
"It is a conspiracy involving by the parties such as Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress.
"Congress is trying to woo Ramdev. Muslim population of this country are begging for their rights since last 63 years, but nobody cares," Bukhari
Shehla Masood---
I dont beg for my rights. I demand rights only when i can afford to perform my duties. How many times the leaders have made a call against rulers who rules for 63 years? its a shame that we dont have a single Muslim leader in the country. How long you want to fool us. How many time any leader from the community has bothered to give a call on any single issue except nonsense. I am a proud Indian and a proud Muslim.
Its time to take a leap rather than crib.We must modernise our community. Modern
education is the only alternative.Modern education, Islamic morals and
manners, liberal human values have to be inculcated in the younger
generation.  We need to shun over glorification of the past.
Romanticising of the past is a pastime in which all fundamentalists
engage themsleves. If RSS/BJP delude themselves with Ram Rajya, we
Muslims dream of Khilafath e Raashida.  Both are humbugs.  We need to
live in the present. Past is passe.

After London the elephants will parade in Delhi to save tigers

After London  the brightly painted elephant sculptures will be in India. 18th December, 57 fibreglass tigers worked upon by well-known contemporary artists such as Anjolie Ela Menon, Paresh Maiti, G R Iranna, Vivek Vilasini and Anandjit Ray, will be installed at 52 locations all over the city.

Aparajita Jain, director of the city-based Seven Art Gallery who, along with art collector Swapan Seth and social activist Nandita Kathpalia Baig conceived of the project..

They will then go to the 56 corporate patrons of the project who have paid Rs 1.5 lakh to book each. There’ll be a lucky draw held on December 19 at the Taj Mansingh hotel, conducted, interestingly by the head boy and girl of Vasant Valley School, to determine which company gets which sculpture.

The money raised will go to the Ranthambhore Foundation, the NGO run by Valmik Thapar, and will be used to empower the women and educate the children of the local “poaching tribes”. Hopefully doing so will give the tiger a better stab at evading extinction.

Female Panther Poached in Satpura Tiger Reserve

Female Panther was found dead just two kilometers from Panchmari in the Satpura Tiger Reserve. She was killed using a snare.

Satpura Tiger Reserve is  traditionally rich area in wildlife. Upto about 19th century, the area  had a rich population of major animals like panthers, tiger, elephants, bison, wild buffaloes and barasingha. But fast deterioration of wildlife habitat led to the disappearance of many of these species, most of the areas of Satpura Tiger Reserve are covered with dense forests. However, there are several open patches and grasslands providing Ideal habitat for the wild animals.

Tiger, the main species is found in the Tiger Reserve in good numbers but remains confined in good forest areas. Panthers are found all over the reserve. Gaurs the largest herbivore, are in large number but are largely localized in moist and semi-moist forests of Bori WLS and Satpura NP.Sambar, Chital, barking deer, chin Kara and mouse deer are distributed all over the reserve. Chausingha or four horned antelope and nilgai are found throughout the area. However, the sighting of barking deer and four horned antelope are not common. Nilgai are found concentrated in drier parts of the Reserve. Sloth bear is also frequently seen in forests rich in fruit trees particularly mahua, tendu and achar. These animals are more frequently seen in Sonbhadravalley. Langurs are common throughout the Reserve. Rhesus monkeys are localized at Pachmarhi particularly close to habitation. Wild dog or  dhole and wolf are also found in the  Reserve. Civet, common fox, jackal and jungle cat are found throughout the Reserve. Wild boars are seen in plenty throughout the Reserve. Giant squirrels and flying squirrels are also seen in the Reserve. Giant squirrels are found all along the nala and rivers around Pachmarhi, Bori, Dhain and Churna. Among reptiles, cobra, Russel viper, python, chameleon and common Indian monitor are found in large numbers throughout the Park. Crocodiles are also found  in water bodies of the Reserve.

The Tiger Reserve is located between 22º 15’ and 22º 45’ N latitudes and 77º 50’ and 78º 30’ E longitudes. Pachmarhi is an important hill station of the state and is located within the area of Pachmarhi WLS. The area is important from the stand point of bio-aesthetic, cultural and social values. The access to the area is easy, the reserve is easily approachable by road from Bhopal (210 km), Jabalpur (240 km), Chhindwara (85 km) and Nagpur (250 km). Pipariya (52 km) and Itarsi are the nearest railhead and rail junction respectively. The Pachmarhi town is accessible all the yea round, but the interior areas are approachable only during the fair weather.

The area is known as a part of the Gondwana tract after the Gond tribe, who chiefly inhabited in this area and practiced shifting cultivation. In the fourteenth and fifteenth century, this area of Gonds was infiltrated by Rajputs and who, by the time of Mougals, had succeeded in reclaiming several parts of the Narmada valley for agriculture. The Gonds were pushed to higher plateaus and slopes to continue hunting and their shifting cultivation. This area saw unrest due to the tension between the Marathas and the Mougals during the seventeenth and eighteenth century.

During the year 1818, the area saw the advent of British rule. In the year 1861, the forest Department was set up in the central provinces under Captain GF Pearson of the Madras Army, with Captain J. Forsyth of Bengal staff Corps, as one of his assistants. In 1862, the forest Department of the central provinces started in a building named Bison Lodge in Pachmarhi. The original house no longer exists, but at the same spot, another building has been constructed, which is also called Bison lodge and has been converted into a forest museum under the Satpura NP.

Municipal Corporation Bhopal officers misbehave with the Zari Centre girls and women

To,
Ms Upma Rai
Member

Madhya Pradesh Women Commission
Bhopal

Sub- Misbehavior, Mishandling, Illegal trespassing, harassing and threatening by Mr. Bakshi of encroachment cell and Mr. Bedeker Asst Commissioner along with the team of Nagar Nigam. Bhopal on Date 19/4/2010 in
the Zari Center. Sheesh Mahal. Bhopal.

Respected Madam,

As the Chairperson was unavailable to meet we submit our grievance with you.

Mr. Bakshi, Mr. Baedeker of Nagar Nigam Bhopal on Date 19/4/2010. Along with 18 men forcibly entered the Zari Centre Sheesh Mahal Bhopal at 3; 30 pm. (Photos and Video Attached of Btv)

When asked to produce a written order, they could not do so as they had none with them. Mr. Baedker and Mr. Bakshi not only misbehaved but threatened the inmates and the Zari center members and workers of dire consequences in case of non-cooperation. The Government officers manhandled the women and girls.

These men at the instruction of the higher authorities and political bigwigs residing in Sheesh Mahal misbehaved with the adolescent girls and old ladies working in the Zari center. They pushed the women around and threatened them to vacate the premises.

They threw away the sewing machines, tables, Sofas, and Addas where zari work was going on. They broke the equipments meant for survival of the zari work in Bhopal. It’s through the “ adda” the culture of zari has survived and the Zari centre.

Adda is the soul of the ZAARI culture.

The Sheesh Mahal is part of the khirniwala maidan complex. It was constructed in times of Nawab Sikander Begum of Bhopal to accommodate the
state guests who visited Bhopal on royal visits. It is the building where Iqbal the poet wrote his masterpieces dedicated to the nation. This royal guest house was the residence of celebrated poet Fazal Tabhish of Bhopal.

The building houses the old art school of Bhopal of Zari Zardosi established by Nawab Sultan Jehan Begum of Bhopal. The zari centre was stared in 1954 Copies of the society registration attached. Till date more than 30,000 girls have been given trained since 1954.

At present there are 38 girls who are earning their living through hard labour without any govt. support. This is a conspiracy of the few Govt officers and Political leaders to de-stabilize the Zari center being operated since 1954 for their hateful purposes and to serve their self-interest.

Strict action should be taken against these officers and an FIR should be lodged. Its noteworthy that when we had approached Thana the FIR was not lodged against these Officers and the subordinates for misbehaving with women , forcibly entering the centre, breaking the furniture and equipments. Police refused to register the FIR /letter.

We have collected the details through RTI Act of the 13 houses, banks and offices which are allotted by PWD (Copy Attached.)

How can Zari center be an encroachment as told by Mr. Bedeker and Mr Bakshi of Nagar Nigam who were leading the team yesterday? They came with anti encroachment squad and 3 vehicles Photos /Video Attached

The illegal work which is going on , running illegal printing press in the Government House, Illegally using vacant Sheesh Mahal quarters for parking their Cars and Scorpio Jeep should be checked by one of the tenant.

Why the PWD Department has closed their eyes to this House?

Out of the 13 houses only one house gets the budgets for renovation. Is Sheesh Mahal private property? Why are the resident of all the 13 houses not being treated equally? Is the PWD Department l of Bhopal or a personal property of One Resident on whose name the house is being allotted till he dies?

What Justice and System is prevailing? Are we living in a cattle field Even Jungle has a law? Women inside the office premises and houses are being mishandled and threatened in the broad lay light by none other than the Government Officers who will take a notice of it?

Yesterday’s incident is shameful blot on Nagar Nigam. We want suspension of the guilty and a Departmental Official enquiry this issue. These girls and ladies who have been ill-treated observe strict “PARDA”. The Nagar Nigam Commissioner should be summoned immediately and a strict Action is needed on the law offenders by the uphollders of the law in the City.

Regards

Insensitive Malaysia towards tiger poaching.

The clip, which was captured using a mobile phone, was highlighted in a report by Britain’s Channel 4 News and posted on its website on Saturday.

The clip showed several people standing around a tiger carcass and discussing how they had killed the animal.

Complete disrespect to the Year of the Tiger!

http://ping.fm/9Cm5T

Shot on a mobile phone in northern Malaysia towards the end of last year, the video shows four young men gloating and laughing over the carcass of a dead tiger. They stand to make just a few hundred dollars from the animal.

"It's the middle men who make the money," says Sarah Christie who heads the tiger conservation programmes at the Zoological Society of London and who has spent years studying the trade in tiger parts, "the poachers get very little."

The middle men who trade the tiger carcass on into China will make the real profit. It can run into thousands of dollars.

The bones are ground up to make pills or potions to treat rheumatism. The meat is often sold to restaurants that specialise in wild animals; it is believed to have strength-giving properties. The skin is valuable too. Official Chinese medicine practitioners no longer use tiger parts, but a thriving black market remains.

This is the Chinese Year of the Tiger, and last month in a meeting in Thailand, China signed up to a pledge to double the number of tigers in the wild by the next one, in 2022.

The dealer’s network should be broken at National and International level.

Need for Whistle blower and Activist Protection Act in India

Need for Whistle blower and Activist Protection

The ideology we hold against corrupt practices in our country time and again are questioned.

Yesterday RTI activist Shashidhar Mishra known as ‘Khabri Lal’ in the area for his knack to expose scams in the welfare schemes through RTI was shot in his head. criminals in Begusarai dist, Bihar.

The murder of Satyendra Dubey, a government engineer who exposed corruption in the national highway building program forced us to ask for our Rights in Democracy. His death was neither the first, nor will be the last that vested interests will perpetrate, but Dubey’s death uniquely encouraged the whistleblowers demand for an act.

Every one believed that as a result of supreme sacrifice of Manjunath, pricing anomaly of selling kerosene at highly subsidized prices will be removed finally. Time has proven us wrong. It has only worsened.
The murder of Shanmughan Manjunath, a manager at a state-owned oil company whose body was found riddled with bullets in the back seat of his car for his cause to fight against selling of impure gasoline raised the question of safety of the whistleblowers.

Hundreds of people are murdered AND threatened every day all over India.

The insensitivity of the administration stand exposed. The FIR is not written. Security is not given. Harassment and victimization of whistleblowers is the norm Inspite of legislation, or they are ignored.

The democracies like USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand have whistleblower protection Bill. With one telephone call to the media, one video on YouTube, one letter to the right public official, a corrupt can be brought to its knees by a whistleblower.

If we want to have participation form the public it is the duty in the constitution to uphold rule of law and it is with the help of the law that a sense of security can be inculcated in the mind of the common man.

We need affirmative whistle-blowing task to report incidents of others violating rules of ethics. Ignoring proposed legislation like the Public Interest Disclosure (Protection of Informers) Bill (PIDB drafted in 2007 submitted by Former Supreme Court Justice B.P. Jeevan Reddy needs attention.

India passed a federal Freedom of Information Bill in 2003 but was void of the Whistleblowers Act recommended by the Constitution Review Commission in 2002. In 1999, Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee had advocated a Whistleblower Act. Although such legislation found support with the Central Vigilance Commission and the Constitutional Review Commission, the proposal/ the Draft bill remains in cold storage to date.

Satyendra Dubey's death merits attention and a subsequent Public Interest Litigation urges the Supreme Court to direct the Centre to evolve a system to ensure protection to anybody who complains to the Government against corruption. His request for keeping his identity secret was duly rejected by the than officials. Dubey ended up paying with his life for drawing the PMO's attention to the corruption in the system. The PMO could have averted his death if they had kept his identity a secret, but denied the request.

The need for a Whistle-blowers (Protection) Act in India is felt very heavily because we are ranked high in the level of corruption in the Global Competitiveness Report Index and Survey of the Political and Economic Risk Consultancy Ltd.

A protection of law to a Whistle-blower will be boosting his moral fiber to disclose the corrupt practices in his knowledge. The bill will attract others also to whistle-blow for a better future of his country.
India lacks a progress on curbing corruption. The Political consensus is awaited. The leader who came in power by peoples mandate does not care.

The Lokpal Bill, 1996, drawn up ostensibly to root out corruption, introduced in Parliament several times awaits the approval of both the Houses. Enactment of the Bill into law is one of the promises made in the Common Minimum Programmes of the ruling United Progressive Alliance as part of administrative reforms.
It is still clear the government has a long way to go in its fight against corruption and organized crime. India can be successful if there is a strong commitment to the strict separation of executive, legislative and judicial power.

On 3rd March, 2006, The Whistleblowers (Protection in Public Interest Disclosures) Bill, 2006 was introduced to provide for protection from criminal or civil liability, departmental inquiry, demotion, harassment and discrimination of whistle blowers, i.e., the persons who bring to light specific instances of illegality, criminality, corruption in any Government, public or private enterprise. However the bill is yet to be passed and assented to by the President.

A robust law is awaited for our protection. Pro-whistle blower laws need to be enacted – Corruption in India is a mega industry to which public exposes are no match.

Invent India.

Man is the king of beasts, for his brutality exceeds them.

The tiger population is in real crisis worldwide. More big cats are held in captivity than are alive in the Asian wilds, says a WWF report.

"Man wants animals to be caged".Through the centuries, man has domesticated somewhat a few animals to complete his wants, and sometimes to provide no want at all. It is one thing to keep an animal near attends one's needs but it is cruel to want to keep them just for fun and business.

It is most definitely cruel.. worse still confined in cages. Have u ever thought of being caged? Ant we so relaxed in our own place??, so do they. We don’t want restrictions. Even domestic animals would like to gait about, and act according to their instincts and needs. Can we picture the frustration that they feel? What do we get in making a person furious, frustrated and depressed? we have no right to do this; we do it because the creatures are feeble to foil us from confronting them. If we are robbed of such rights, we would pretty die than yield. Only in the cruelest of regimes are men and women confined only because the authorities did so...By what right then do we imprison animals and birds lacking any qualms?

The Zoos have become the slaughter homes for Tigers because the natural environment is missing. The Natural Habitats are shrinking; the nomads are helping the poachers as they cannot survive.

The intellect of fairness we grasp so dearest when it comes to humans should be extended to all living creatures.

"It is just like man's vanity and impertinence to call an animal dumb because it is dumb to his dull perceptions. Heaven is by favor; if it were by merit your dog would go in and you would stay out. Of all the creatures ever made he (man) is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he is the only one...that possesses malice. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. The fact that man knows right from wrong proves his intellectual superiority to the other creatures; but the fact that he can do wrong proves his moral inferiority to any creature that cannot."

Man could be crossed with the cat; it would improve man but deteriorate the cat."
I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it. The pains which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity towards it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further. It is so distinctly a matter of feeling with me, and is so strong and so deeply-rooted in my make and constitution, that I am sure I could not even see a vivisector vivisected with anything more than a sort of qualified satisfaction. I do not say I should not go and look on; I only mean that I should almost surely fail to get out of it the degree of contentment which it ought, of course, to be expected to furnish..(Mark Twain Letter to London Anti-Vivisection Society, May 26, 1899)

Of all the animals, man is the only one that is cruel. He is the only one that inflicts pain for the pleasure of doing it.

Is 'fore play' too tacky ?

In the last couple of weeks, sex ruled not only the sports headlines, but the tabloid ones as well, with the sordid saga of Tiger Woods.

Sex in sports showed its power in a completely different manner’s appeal is driving the continued rise of Patrick. It's powerful enough to do that for someone who looks good but hasn't exactly earned her way. Conversely, sex is powerful enough to turn a Tiger into a cheetah, as the popular joke goes. Woods has played his way to the top of sport, becoming the richest athlete in the world by dominating a finicky game like golf in a way that's never been done before. His 14 major championships at age 33 solidify his greatness. But sex can topple a titan, even one who has earned every step of success.

There is a both outrageous and quality journalism going around. Some talk about sex appeal and some talk about the act itself. thing have been proven again by both cases: Sex does, indeed, sell, whether it's by the marketing machine of NASCAR or to the insatiable appetite of society for the dirty details of celebrities' personal lives.

Before this animalistic analysis shifts into second gear, it must be made perfectly clear that these are two totally different areas of the sex spectrum. lol

Berti Vogts, the German football manager in 1994, banned his players from sex before games. Linford Christie, the British sprinter, agreed with the notion, saying a romp the night before a race made his legs feel like lead.

Athletes have long perpetuated the theory that sex before competition zaps energy. Muhammad Ali, for one, reportedly wouldn't make love for six weeks before a fight. But scientists say there is no physiological evidence to suggest that sex before competition is bad. In fact, some studies suggest that pre-sports sex may actually aid athletes by raising their testosterone levels, for example. It is unclear, however, what psychological effects sex may have on an athlete's performance. Some scientists suggest that abstinence could help some athletes concentrate better.

"There are two possible ways sex before competition could affect performance," said Ian Shrier, a sports medicine specialist at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. "First, it could make you tired and weak the next day," Shrier said. "This has been disproved. "The second way is that it could affect your psychological state of mind. This has not been tested," he said.

The hormone of both sexual desire and aggression are from the body.

Still less is known about the psychological effects of sex on athletic performance.
Some experts say coaches may be favoring the abstinence theory simply because they want to make sure young athletes get enough sleep before a big game. Too much anxiety or too much aggression may result in poor performance. "If athletes are too anxious and restless the night before an event, then sex may be a relaxing distraction," Shrier wrote in his study. "If they are already relaxed or, like some athletes, have little interest in sex the night before a big competition, then a good night's sleep is all they need." The results will depend on individual preferences and routines, Shrier said, adding that consistency is key.

Does Good Sex Make Sports Heroes? Here are the two opposing perspectives from sports greats themselves. Muhammad Ali, believing it sapped an athlete's strength, wouldn't have sex for six weeks before a fight. The ancient Yankee philosopher, Casey Stengel, on the other hand, quotith: "I'm less worried about a player having sex the night before a game than him being out all night looking for it."

It’s an irresistible mix says the researchers. Sex and sports inseparable? The question brings to mind two historic sports heroes. Wilt Chamberlain claims he had sex with 20,000 different females or 1.37 women per day over a period of 40 years, from the age of 15. He further states because of such encounters he slept not a wink the night before he scored an astonishing 100 points in a National Basketball Association game.

"Babe" Ruth was equally notorious for countless liaisons, but sex did not seem to affect his legendary baseball records. However, it was Hank Aaron, a presumably straight-shooting, early-to-bedder, who broke Ruth's record of 714 regular season home runs. Could a well-rested, sexually-restrained Ruth have hit 800 or 1,000?
Must a sexually active athlete sacrifice success in the world of sports? For decades the answer was a definitive "yes." Sex, said many coaches and trainers, stunted athletes' potential and shortened their careers. This nostrum, probably based on an 18th-century notion about preserving vital body fluids, is fast losing support as a result of modern scientific study.

There seems to be no penalty in combining sex and athletics, according to sports medicine director John Troup, M.D. "Unless it becomes distracting, it might even help some people sleep," he says.

Most experts agree no evidence exists to support the old taboos.

"Moderate" sex before competition may indeed be beneficial, according to George Leonard, author of The Physiology of Sex. Leonard lauds the benefits of the "rapturous synergy of exercise and sex" and concludes, "Either sex or athletics is good for you, and in conjunction they're even better."

The loss of even one night's sleep is likely to result in fatigue, irritability and mood shifts. "At a certain level, the physical differences a competitor can feel are small, but there are no bounds to what can be done mentally," says Sue Hollaway, the first woman to compete in two Olympics during the same year (skiing and kayaking, 1976).

Research indicates sleep loss undermines creative thinking (spontaneity, flexibility and originality) and the ability to deal with unfamiliar situations.Physiology professor Bruce Martin agrees. "Humans can respond remarkably well when aroused," he says. "Sleep doesn't matter when athletes are fired up for competition."
Author Charles Garfield dissents. "No one lives in a constant state of arousal. More important is maintaining the energy to do good work consistently."
Time of day is a performance factor. The consensus? Consistency is the key..

Come to think of it, I’d like to do that research. Anyway, until some research is conducted, your guess is as good as mine as to whether sexual relations will hinder athletic performance. So until then …trial and error. Look at the bright side though, the trial and the error is going to hurt so g-o-o-d.

“Picasso had his Blue Period… and I am in my Blonde Period”. Since its inception in November 1953 (Miller, 41), Playboy has been a hit with men of all ages. He changed perception through business, including the use of sports. He turned the infamous Bunny logo into a cultural icon. Men and women recognize it throughout the world. It is this adorable symbol that gives him his place in history.

Shameless politicians who rules us and shameless opposition who sits

26/11 has blown apart a little part in every Indian. But each one of us feels it in a different way. some speak, some curse , some vent, some sit in despair , some don’t bother to say, some react as its their job, some feel as they have lost their family , some repeat the telecast to earn more money, some react as injustice has been done ,some react as forced by few, some are on the job as its their duty, some do as its politics, some react as its time to earn money and most of them still waits to see some God sent angel will come and provide security in out country.
Goddamn the insensitive politicians, inept bureaucrats and powerless police. India pretends to be a democracy. It has many flaws but it is legitimate. We need to reform the police ASAP.Speed up justice IMMEDIATELY. Make babus accountable without Delay. Stop criminals from entering politics ASAP . And Goddamn the sleeping society.. who do not react inspite of watching it again and again.
It is so frustrating the way the Mumbai crisis is being handled. It seems that we are all being taken for a ride and we are happily accepting to be fooled.
The ridiculous politicians are still using this sad and cowardly terrorist attach for their political mileage.
It is we who have accepted the feeble and corrupted system that is simply incapable of taking on trained and highly motivated terrorists.
Major corruptions have been revealed in the police system. Lackadaisical attitude in the security system is evident till date. We have no importance to ethics or morality as the end justifies the means. The Marathi manoos is sleeping. Alexandra conquered from Greece to Indus but do we consider Indus valley as the part of Greece.
The Thackray were hiding in their homes in 26/11 and it was common marathis were helping the injured.MJ Akbar says it .. It is both easy and pointless to blame the government. Every government keeps a thermometer in its holster and calibrates its decibel levels according to ground temperature. If it's warm, it will blow hot, as Delhi did so vigorously between November and January. If it has cooled, Delhi will cool it as well. It is meaningless to blame our Opposition. We have an Opposition that has become impotent without ever turning potent. The politician will only be as resolute as the citizen, and our sensitivities have been dulled by a culture of complacence. Even trauma has been reduced to television drama; once the scenes are played out, our bluster slowly splutters into silence”
Ajmal Kasab was the only attacker captured alive by police and is currently under arrest. He was the only only person the country sleuths were on the job untill after the arrest of David Headley in November 2009 in the United States, investigators determined that he had a key involvement in the 26th November attack.
This disclosure has come when National Security Adviser M K Narayanan had talks with CIA chief Leon Panetta in New Delhi on Saturday. What is to be seen is this disclosure coincides with the anniversary of the India Carnage ( Bombay attack). Eleven months but what kind of success? these two were arrested by the FBI in Chicago last month in connection with a Laskhar-e-Toiba terror plot against India.
Shame on our intelligence. One again I say.. Politicians should be involved in end-to-end emergency preparedness drills. Ultimately, it is they that authorize action against perpetrators. The questions of terror laws are still to be formulated.
Statistics are like a bikini; What is revealed is interesting; What is concealed is crucial.8 attacks occurred. The attack began on 26 November 2008 and lasted until 29 November. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Oberoi Trident, the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital, the Jewish-owned Nariman House, the Metro Cinema, and a lane behind the Times of India building and St. Xavier's College, explosion at Mazagaon.
It killed173 people.
Wounded 308 persons.
Among the dead were 28 foreign nationals from 10 countries.
There were 10 gunmen (terrorists).WERE shot dead.
1 was captured by security forces.
Still we have not learnt any lesson.
Want every reader to go down the memory lane ..On one hand the GATEWAY OF INDIA witnessed children, youth, old ..asking for security, accountability, their rights, agitated, full of hatred against the terrorism,,And on the other hand after the relentless appeals by the citizens and media finally forced the stepping down of Maharashtra CM.. and an apology by the Kerala CM.
Still we have not learnt any lesson. The Liberhan report is out . Much ado for nothing.

"I feel ashamed, of course. I promise myself that this lie is the end of it.”

Well... one of the most beloved athlete and a gifted men did what is expected form a 27-year-old multimillionaire... world famous athlete and married to Brooke Shields. Agassi and Shields lasted just two years, divorcing in 1999, and according to stories/blogs, media news he quit meth well before they split.

Andre Agassi is in headlines once again and this time for his new memoir coming out at the end of the week called Open. The 39 year-old tennis great reveals that he had a crystal meth addiction in 1997, right before he made the decision to marry his first wife, Brooke Shields.

After faltering in three Grand Slam finals, Agassi shocked the world and himself, by capturing the 1992 Wimbledon. Overnight he becomes a fan favorite and a media target.

He spent most of 1997 snorting meth the same year he married Shields and Home Alone 3 came out, coincidence? He won a stingy five Grand Slam titles after becoming an addict and gave time for charity work for underprivileged children.

Agassi had won the Olympic gold medal in the 1996 Atlanta Games, but didn’t win a major in 1997, dropping to No. 141 in the rankings.

He resuscitated his career in 1998, making the biggest one-year jump into the top 10 in the history of the ATP rankings. He won the French Open to complete a career Grand Slam, and then added a second career U.S. Open title en route to finishing 1999 at No. 1.

But he regained his balance after he found his love for Stefanie Graff. Her strength encouraged his fights of crippling pain from a deteriorating spine to remain a dangerous opponent in the twenty-first and final year of his career. He entered his last tournament in 2006; he's hailed for completing a stunning change, from oddball to elder statesman, from dropout to education advocate.
He went on to win three more Australian Open titles before retiring in 2006. He won more than $30 million in his career, and eight major singles titles.

Today he has once again mad4 a courageous stand. And still he's not done.

His new memoir will be read and cherished for years. A treat for ardent fans, it will also captivate readers who know nothing about tennis. Like Agassi's game, it will set a new standard for grace, style, speed, and power in Tennis At least. He admitted to his addiction. I'm sure there are many other athletes that have had this issue and have not had it in them to come forward.

Everyone has a closet. I will always be a great fan of him. Agassi has been married to his second wife, retired German tennis player Steffi Graff, for eight years. They have two children: son Jaden, 8, and daughter Jaz, 5. By most accounts he’s a great guy, and it sounds like he’s only human.

"I feel ashamed, of course. I promise myself that this lie is the end of it.”

Who are outsiders?

As mentioned in the story published dated 22/9/2009 the words outsiders are used for whom?

Is it used for citizens who keep a watch on administration?

Is an outsider the vigilant citizen?

Is an outsider the opinion makers?

Is an outsider the public pressure groups?

Is an outsider the one who works at their own expense to keep a check on the Government officers who are perpetual at fault and who take laws in their hands?

Is an outsider the one who keep the head above the shoulder?

Is an outsider who is earnest?

Is an outsider a nature lover?

Is an outsider who raises questions on time?

Is an outsider one who writes the PM for action?

Is an outsider the one who wrote to the Chief Wildlife warden?

Is an outsider the one who exposed the faults made by the Van Vihar officers to impress the Minister?

Is an outsider the activists?

Is an outsider the one who do not take grants for their work?

Is an outsider a sensitive person?

Is an outsider a courageous person who makes his/her voice heard?

Is an outsider the social worker who works for the betterment of the society?

Is an outsider inhuman?

Is an outsider the one who points out defects in the system?

Is an outsider who is working for the betterment of the society and nature?

Is an outsider who raises voice where Public Option is under siege?

Is an outsider better than the so called elite who know all but do not react?

Is an outside r who believes that the road is made by walking?

Is an outside the one that breaks a window to rescue a child from a burning car?

Is an outsider the one who is talking to keep everybody alive?

If all these are outsiders I am proud to be known as outsiders. Moral courage is a rarer commodity than bravery in battle or great intelligence.

It’s a shame who calls the vigilant citizens outsiders.

Twitter, Tharoor and the Indian Politics

Holier-than-thou.

Before I write I must say that the Congress and BJP should have an English teacher.

Mr Tharoor's track record in our country reveals one clear distinguished feature. His ability..to gather controversies .lol. if I am not wrong it all started the very day his name was announced as the contestant from Trivandrum. From the burning of his effigy to the National anthem controversy he has emerged out amidst personal attacks pertaining to his American Connection, Israel soft-corner, literary works, Canadian wife and affluent lifestyle.

A former UN diplomat, a prolific writer, a political debutant and an inveterate Twitter-e. In all fairness to Tharoor, Cattle Class is an accepted and widely frequented synonym for Economy Class travel. He has used it as a run-of-the-mill response but this is where the words and phrases find new and out of context ...I fail to understsnd.. what is the fuss all about ? A wise crack has been made into a controversy. Twitter, Tharoor and the Indian Politics is being discussed for no reason leaving the more important discussion on the Indian media houses who thinks whatever the media vomits and excretes are sacred offering. From debates to research, to polls a complete waste of time and money on the nonsense. The omnipresent television folks are ready to spring upon anything, and under the present Indian circumstances the media verdict is interpreted as the people's opinion.

The recent Five Star Hotel non-issue brought the man again back in frame. Shashi Tharoor, the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs and a member parliament is in big controversy due to his statement regarding the people traveling in economy class. Before the Hotel nonsense was dead the next one has crashed down on all of us, this time with the effect of a Tsunami! And this one seems bad enough, with Tharoor's trendy aide, Twitter, letting him down this time.

What’s more astonishing is the fact that airlines has taken no an action on the remark but definitely our Politicians who are trying to be Holier-than-thou. Does anybody remember the infamous 'dog remarks' by Kerala CM Comrade Achutanandan? Same settings, same ploy, same error, same comedy and same emotions …Now if Achumama was wrong there, Tharoor is wrong here. You take out the 'if' from the previous sentence, it still holds its fact, sadly.

It’s not an astonishment to see lack of sense of humour among the political and the chattering classes. People who are unfamiliar with English usage and with the nuances of the language suddenly take offense at phrases that are perfectly normal and acceptable.

Shashi Tharoor usage of the words “cattle class” and “holy cow” will get a political debate on is funny. The humorless politicians who are good in manipulating once again show their aptitude, social and political realities. Shashi Tharoor is not an average man or a fuddy-duddy Indian politician.

A student of St Xavier’s Collegiate School, Calcutta, St Stephen’s College, Delhi, and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Boston is being targeted. The Congress party has gone on an overdrive with its austerity procedures. This is wise and good. But this should not mean that the leaders of our country should abandon the ability to laugh at themselves. Fusion with the BJP senior leaders on the issue shows the true colours of our politicians and the love for the cattle class. That’s how they treat the aam admi

Our politicians tend to be earnest, self-righteous and holier-than-thou. This is what Mr Tharoor was poking fun at when he spoke of holy cows. Lets re-look at the political, societal and security developments related to India as it readies to reclaim its position among the great nations of the world.

Twittering back, Mr Tharoor has negotiated the "cattle class" slight uncomfortably, arguing that it was a "silly expression" not meant to disrespect economy travellers. Instead, he says, it was airline companies who "herded passengers in like cattle".

He also came up with a somewhat revisionist and semantic take on the phrase "holy cow". "Holy cows are NOT individuals but sacrosanct issues or principles that no one dares challenge. I wish the critic would look it up," he writes. "Now I realise that I shouldn't assume people will appreciate humour and I shouldn't give those who would willfully distort your words an opportunity to do so.".

To my limited knowledge goes, "holy cow" is used as an exclamation, in American slang something negative..

It’s silly to ask the minister to resign. If this is diplomacy I have no words. Sadly, humour sense and common sense is not something very common in our set-up, he has learned the hard way..:)

() Never understood this about humans. We call dogs our best friends, but then abuse someone by calling him a dog. We descend from monkeys, but calling someone a monkey is racist. We worship cows, but suddenly saying 'cattle class' is derogatory. LOLL
