HC orders probe into alleged felling of trees in “Nouradehi Abhayaranya”

A division bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court comprising Chief Justice Syed Rafat Alam and Justice Alok Aradhe has ordered an inquiry into the alleged  1-felling of trees 2- Burning of their shoots to destroy the evidences by the Forest authorities in “Nouradehi Abhayaranya”.

Nouradehi Abhayaranya” is surrounded by Sagar, Damoh and Narshinpur Districts which is about 150 km from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. 

The division bench has directed the forest authorities of Madhya Pradesh to execute  re plantation of trees in the affected area iif found true.

Hearing a petition filed by Ambika Prasad Dubey of Eco-forest development committee Jalpiry, Narsingpur district the court has directed the compliance of the orders within six months.
the commitee has alleged that in March 2007, thousnad of vauable trees were felled by the then Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Archana Shukla and others in “Nouradehi Abhayaranya”.

The petitioner further alleged that in order to destroy the evidence of their existence, their shoots were also burnt completely by the said DFO in connivance with few villagers and officers.The petitioner had prayed to the court to stop felling of trees in order to prevent environmental imbalance and damage to “Nouradehi Abhayaranya” and to take suitable action against the guilty.
